The variety of cultures at Porirua College is one of our greatest taonga. We embrace and celebrate our different cultures within our curriculum and at many events, from cultural evenings to language weeks. Polyfest is always a highlight for our students and staff each year. It is a chance for our students to express their cultures through stories, songs, dance and music. Polyfest promotes innovation and creativity, collaboration with staff, students, families, leadership and life skills.

This year Bishop Viard College are hosting and it will be held on Friday 10th August from 3.00 - 10.00pm at Te Rauparaha Arena.  Porirua College's dress rehearsal for our groups is on Tuesday 7th August in Whiti Te Ra.  We have seven groups involved in Polyfest this year:

  • Kapa Haka
  • Samoan
  • Tokelauan
  • Cook Islands
  • Tuvaluan
  • Niuean
  • Tongan Girls

We encourage all students who are interested to get involved.  Polyfest is a huge commitment each year, developing student pride in their cultures.  This year some of the groups will be running their practices during the Innovative Curriculum Programme starting in Term 2, Week 6.  This will ease the load on both staff and students.

Every year we shine during Polyfest and this year will be the brightest year yet!
