11th June 2020
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are delighted that New Zealand is now at Alert Level 1, with no Covid-19 cases in New Zealand, which means that school life is now back to normal. We are able to have assemblies, resume school trips and winter sports competitions are starting up. We have a couple of important dates coming up early next term:
Thursday 23 July Open Afternoon from 3.30pm - 5.30pm for all Year 8 students who are considering PC in 2021. Tours of the school from 3.30pm will be followed by a meeting with me in the hall at 5.00pm.
Wednesday 29 July Parents’ Afternoon/Evening to meet with subject teachers to discuss your child’s progress. Reports will come out at the end of this term.
We are continuing to clean school thoroughly. Students and staff must stay home if they are sick, wash hands carefully and cough or sneeze into elbows. We all also need to continue to keep track of where we have been.
There have been some changes to NCEA just for this year to make it easier for students to pass after the time they missed at school during lockdown. Requirements to pass NCEA for 2020 only are:
Level One - 70 credits passed during 2020
Level Two - 52 credits passed during 2020
Level Three - 52 credits passed during 2020
University Entrance - 12 credits in three approved subjects, 12 UE literacy credits and Level 3
Overall - 46 credits at Excellence for Excellence Endorsement. 46 credits at Excellence or Merit for Merit Endorsement.
Subject - 12 credits at Excellence in that subject, including at least 3 internal and at least 3 from the exam for an Excellence Subject Endorsement. 12 credits at Merit or Excellence in that subject, including at least 3 internal and at least 3 from the exam for a Merit Subject Endorsement.
We know that students are working hard to achieve, after the challenges of lockdown. NCEA exams are two weeks later than usual this year so that we can keep students at school to ensure they attain their goals. Please contact us if you have any concerns.
Ngā mihi nui,
